All drivers are W2 employees and will be paid weekly through a direct deposit into their bank account. Payment is done through OnPay - which you setup while completing your W2 employee paperwork during onboarding.

All payout estimates listed in the Onward Driver App reflect all bonuses, expected mileage and represent an estimate of the total amount you will get paid for a drive, barring any additional changes while conducting the drive (ie, reimbursements, extended time or distance with rider). Please note, taxes will be taken out of the estimated payout you see in the app but reimbursements will not be taxed.

Drivers are paid only for their time with the rider - we do not reimburse or pay for time getting to and from a ride unless specified by Onward Rides over phone or text message.

  • Early morning and late evening trips
  • Rides to and from the airport
  • Rides on major holidays*
  • Same day bookings

All increased payouts are subject to market responses and can fluctuate based on driver availability as well as ride region/location, time of day, traffic and more. We use a sophisticated algorithm to determine the optimized payout for every ride.

Trips that require a toll, parking or item pick-up/shopping will be reimbursed - please update the Onward Driver App final trip screen immediately after completing your ride to update it with extra expenses and upload receipts within 12 hours. All rides are reviewed by the Onward team and finalized within 24 hours.

Payout Timing

Every Monday morning Onward will capture all the ride data from the previous week (Sunday through Saturday) and submit it to our payroll processor (OnPay). OnPay then distributes the taxes to the government and transfers funds to your bank.

It takes 2 days to transfer and then each bank typically takes 2 days to make the funds available to you. You should expect your funds to appear in your bank account on Friday.

W2 Taxes

To access your W2 when filing taxes, please go into your OnPay account to access this document.

Make sure you know what you can deduct! Like, vehicle maintenance, gas, insurance, etc. You can deduct vehicle insurance - as well as other vehicle related maintenance, etc - from your taxes.
